Abstract

This IDC Survey details results from IDC's 2021 U.S. Smart Home Survey, which was fielded in June. The survey asked respondents questions regarding consumer adoption of and attitudes toward a variety of smart home and smart office devices and services, security and privacy concerns, and smart assistants. This IDC Survey document focuses on aspects of the survey related to home automation, monitoring, and control devices and applications.

"The smart home is now well and truly mainstream in the United States as adoption rates are over 75% of Wi-Fi households," said Adam Wright, senior research analyst for IDC's Smart Home and Office Devices program. "Even so, barriers to the market's growth remain, including the need for ongoing education efforts around products and discoverability of features, privacy and security concerns persist."
