Outcomes-First Expectations as a Reason to Change Cloud Providers Trends Higher for Enterprises with Long-Term Digital Transformation Strategy
This IDC Survey Spotlight provides insight into IT and LOB decision-maker perspectives on what would most make their organization be willing to change its current cloud platform strategy and providers as they grapple with the long-term business changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and associated economic and social disruptions.
This document contains data from IDC's Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending (FERS) Survey, Wave 7, conducted in August 2021. The purpose of the FERS Survey series (12 monthly surveys) is to explore a range of topics related to IT spending priorities, digital resiliency, and technology/organizational priorities in the next normal. The Wave 7 survey solicited replies from a mix of 920 IT and LOB decision makers across the United States, Europe, and Asia/Pacific, as well as across a range of industries. Results are weighted for GDP.
"Those with an enterprise-level long-term focus on digital transformation (DX) strategy ranked industry-specialized solutions as the top reason they would be willing to change cloud providers. In a digital-first world, cloud customers have outcomes-first expectations. With enterprises focusing more on outcomes in their cloud selection processes, the long-term focus for all cloud providers needs to be on strengthening relationships with business leaders and developers/engineers/analysts in individual industries. Strong alliances will be key in helping signal commitment to an industry." — Lara Greden, research director, PaaS at IDC.
