Abstract
This IDC Market Presentation examines why and how modern digital enterprises are starting to track and manage internal repositories of open source components. DevOps teams are increasingly using a composite approach toward application development that relies upon open source software. These teams are benefiting from the handiwork of the open source community, speeding up application development and innovation but may also be exposing themselves to security vulnerabilities embedded within the open source packages.
"Many organizations are beginning to realize that they need to take a more intentional approach toward managing their open source software," said Jim Mercer, research director, IDC's DevOps and DevSecOps.
