On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey details results from IDC's 2021 U.S. Smart Home Survey, which was fielded in June. The survey asked respondents questions regarding consumer adoption of and attitudes toward a variety of smart home devices and services, security and privacy concerns, and smart assistants. This IDC Survey document focuses on aspects of the survey related to use of smart assistants in the home.

"Consumer usage of smart assistants continues to rise year over year," said Adam Wright, senior research analyst for IDC's Smart Home and Office Devices program. "But use cases continue to center around basic functions like checking the weather rather than advanced capabilities like interacting with smart home devices. Vendors need to do more to grow the user base, increase the frequency of interactions, and help shepherd users toward more advanced applications."
