Target Cloud Platform Messaging to Empower the Specific Developer Personas You Serve
This IDC Survey Spotlight provides insight into six developer personas with respect to the features of cloud platform solutions that help them do their job most effectively. The developer personas are as follows: full stack developer, back-end developer, front-end developer, database developer, mobile developer, and web developer. As user-, influencer-, and sometimes buyer-personas for cloud application services and development platforms, vendors benefit from knowing the highest value aspects to these personas to create targeted marketing messaging.
This document contains data from IDC's PaaSView and the Developer 2021 Survey, a worldwide survey of developers conducted in March 2021. The purpose of the survey is to identify trends in developer influence, development languages and frameworks, DevOps, developer responsibilities, emerging technologies, cloud, microservices, containers, container orchestration frameworks, functions as a service, application modernization, open source, and code sourcing. The PaaSView and the Developer 2021 Survey solicited replies from 2,500 developers across the United States, Europe, and Asia/Pacific, as well as across a range of industries. Results are weighted for GDP.
"In today's digital-first world, enterprises are seeking outcomes, not technology solutions. Developers enable those outcomes, and a more nuanced view of the developer persona shows that each particular role has different priorities when it comes to what empowers them to deliver their work most effectively. In marketing to developers (influencers and buyers) and to enterprise IT/software organizations (buyers) charged with enabling their development teams, provide differentiation specific to each developer role your solution serves," said Lara Greden, research director, PaaS, IDC.
