Abstract


This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation examines enterprise service management (ESM) in practice. The evolution of IT service management from issue ticket routing systems into business process platforms has occurred under the rubric of enterprise service management. IDC's research into this evolution suggests that there is a current opportunity for CIOs to rethink their approach to IT operations and, specifically, highlights key opportunities for the "higher-level work" promised for employees by automation and workflow vendors.
