Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight provides insight into how digital infrastructure customers around the world expect to use end-user visibility and observability analytics to optimize digital infrastructure and the mission-critical business processes it supports. The document contains data from IDC's Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 10, conducted in October 2021. The survey includes responses from 829 IT and LOB decision makers representing a wide range of industries, geographies, and company sizes.

"Our worldwide survey shows that digital infrastructure investments are expected to deliver significant business value in 2022, particularly in the areas of cybersecurity (35%), data management/protection (33%), and public cloud (27%)," explains Mary Johnston Turner, research vice president, Future of Digital Infrastructure Agenda research at IDC. "The accelerating use of dynamic digital infrastructure environments built across interconnected private cloud, public cloud, and edge platforms, as well as traditional and hosted datacenters, requires real-time awareness and visibility of complex runtime dependencies, resource usage, operational risk, and end-to-end application performance. As a result, 77% of the IT and LOB decisions makers recently polled worldwide indicate they somewhat or strongly agree that using comprehensive end-user visibility and observability analytics are critical to optimizing digital infrastructure. These analytics can detect anomalies, maintain compliance, and remediate problems rapidly as well as predictively trigger infrastructure scaling and workload migrations to continuously adapt infrastructure resources to support rapidly changing application and data demands."
