This IDC Market Perspective examines the key trends that will impact the migration from legacy voice services for small and medium-sized businesses. During the pandemic, SMBs became much more aware of the need for flexible solutions to keep employees and customers connected. As a quick response, many businesses pieced together various services to keep things moving. But, over the longer term, full migration from the legacy voice systems will be required.

"Businesses have been transitioning landline voice services from legacy POTS solutions to move to advanced IP-based services for years now," said Jason Blackwell, research director, SMB Communications Services at IDC. "But there are still millions of legacy lines out there and communications service providers need to help SMB customers migrate to avoid any issues down the road."
