Abstract
This IDC Survey is the 2022 refresh and update to the inaugural DevSecOps Adoption, Techniques, and Tools Survey. The survey examines the drivers, benefits, and challenges associated with DevSecOps and application security. It explores the usage, both current and projected, of specific DevSecOps tools as well as the role the developer plays in adoption and selection. The survey also looks at organizational aspects of adopting DevSecOps, including cultural and structural adjustments. Where questions are aligned, comparisons are made between the 2021 results (see DevSecOps Adoption, Techniques, and Tools Survey, IDC #US47597321, April 2021) and the 2022 results.
"The findings of this survey suggest that DevSecOps adoption is inching forward," said Katie Norton, senior research analyst, DevOps and DevSecOps. "These results highlight the priorities as well as the challenges organizations are facing when it comes to managing the security of their applications. A major theme that surfaced this year is that organizations need practices and tools that will enable security to move at the speed of DevOps."
