Abstract

This IDC study provides IDC's digital transformation (DX) use case taxonomy for K-12 education. This taxonomy is organized by five strategic priorities, which are common priorities in primary and secondary school settings around the globe — teaching and learning, student engagement and support, student health and well-being, school administration and operations, and Alumni and Partner Relations. The study also provides a guide to an institution's digital transformation journey, describing what is possible and areas of high-technology impact so that institutions can take a strategic approach to IT investment aligned with institutional objectives.

"The COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing disruptions over the past two years forced K-12 education institutions to digitally transform. More than a two years later, education institutions are now investing in technological solutions to reimagine how teachers teach, how students, learn, and how institutions operate," says Matthew Leger, research manager, Worldwide Education Digital Transformation Strategies at IDC. "Given the central role technology now plays in every aspect of education, continuous digital transformation in the industry is now an imperative to ensure continuity of operations in the face of continuous disruption and change."
