Fitness Trackers in the Workplace: A 2021 Overview
This IDC Survey looks at the current state of fitness trackers in the workplace. This includes deployment, popular brands, healthcare cost reductions, and services. Furthermore, it looks at the associated factors that companies find important and how they are satisfied.
"Deployment of fitness trackers within the enterprise remains in the minority," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director for IDC's Wearables program. "Unlike other devices such as smartphones and tablets that directly impact productivity immediately, fitness trackers enable healthier lifestyles which can affect absenteeism and morale in the long run. As this survey has shown, fitness trackers can provide significant cost savings. In addition, by introducing a variety of events and services like on-premises workouts and monthly fitness challenges, companies can keep employees engaged."
Satisfaction with fitness trackers remains high among current users, especially in terms of vendor support, setting clear expectations of derived benefits, and monthly events and challenges. Given these results, other companies would do well to consider introducing fitness trackers to their employees.
