Abstract

This IDC Survey uses data from IDC's 2021 Global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Business Services Buyer Value Survey, which was fielded in August/September 2021. The survey assesses sustainability-related end-user maturity, business priorities, and spending intentions and perceptions about sustainability services vendors over the next 12–24 months.

Millennials and Generation Z have been shown to have stronger commitments to environmental and social causes. This is manifesting in many ways, most prominently in how they go about spending. As the buying power of younger generations continues to grow, Millennials and Generation Z are putting pressure on organizations to act in sustainable ways, and this is forcing businesses to seek out ways to better meet their new customer base's demands. This document outlines the changes being necessitated by Millennials and Generation Z, as well as the end-user need for sustainability-related services brought about customer demand.
