Abstract

This IDC study presents the five-year forecast for the worldwide business use smartphone shipments by operating system and user type (consumer, individual liable, and corporate liable). It is part of IDC's continuing research with respect to mobile devices. Findings in this document are based on information gathered from primary and secondary sources during the past six months.

"As a result of many lessons learned during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, enterprises have realized the benefits of a mobile-enabled frontline workforce and are prioritizing significant portions of their mobility IT budgets toward mobilizing frontline workers," said Bryan Bassett, senior research analyst, IDC's Enterprise Mobility: Deployment Strategies program. "Whether the devices are shared by multiple users or deployed in one-to-one scenarios, the increase in new mobile endpoints and users will require additional IT investment to effectively secure, manage, and enable a growing number of mobile assets and worker types."
