How Must Vendors Respond to User Demand for High-Performance Computing and AI Infrastructure Requirements?
Abstract
This IDC Market Perspective addresses vendor responses to the demand for HPC/AI solutions.
"With the convergence of HPC, AI, and Big Data under the banner of performance-intensive computing, there is exponential growth in data creation, demand for faster compute, faster storage with higher bandwidths, lower latencies, and higher scalability," said Josephine Palencia, research director, High-Performance Computing at IDC. "Vendors have responded with creative innovations as they try to keep pace with technological advancements. Despite impressive gains in compute performance, the HPC/AI market shows no signs of slowing down. The demand for gains in both compute and storage is at an exponential rise in terms of model size simulations and compute. Some applications require the ability to perform models faster and at much larger scale than even just a few months ago. This trend will continue as vendors innovate while society benefits from and sees rapid breakthroughs in applications spanning HPC/AI, including for critical research in the medical field."
