Abstract

This IDC Perspective looks at how telecom operators are transforming themselves into digital service providers to remain relevant to their customers, in particular their business users. The document covers different areas in which telecom operators are transforming themselves, examples of what these transformations look like, and the role vendors can play in telecom transformation.

"Business are going through a period of transformation and telecom service providers need to transform themselves to best meet the emerging communication requirements of the business community," commented Daryl Schoolar, research director of Telecommunications Insights at IDC. "Telco transformation will ultimately touch all aspects of the telco's business, from its internal systems to its external communications network and the types of partners the telco service provider works with."
