This IDC Survey Spotlight presents data on the preferred deployment scenario for 2022 spending on high-performance computing (HPC). Data is extracted from IDC's 4Q21 Quarterly IT Infrastructure Survey, in which respondents were asked whether they would invest in HPC deployed primarily in any of the following ways:
- On rented time on a supercomputer
- At a colocation center
- In their own datacenter
- At the edge
- As a service in a public cloud
The sample size was 600 across Northern America, Asia/Pacific, and Western Europe.
