Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight provides insight into how restaurants that have identified supply chain optimization as a core business process have realized benefits against organizational objectives. Leveraging data-rich, automated solutions is helping restaurants drive profits and increase customer lifetime value. The data is from IDC's August 2021 Hospitality and Travel Survey, highlighting respondents that identified as restaurant companies.

"Food and labor are a restaurant's highest costs and are responsible in large part for diners' satisfaction," says Dorothy Creamer, research manager, Hospitality and Travel Digital Transformation Strategies, IDC. "As restaurants struggle with both workforce and supply chain issues, solutions that help optimize inventory and fulfillment are key to managing costs, increasing efficiency, and ensuring guest satisfaction. In addition, restaurants are grappling with increased digital orders and delivery demands, which add complexity to daily operations. With automated, intelligent systems, restaurants will be more competitive as they can easily tap into more revenue streams without sacrificing service quality or cannibalizing profits."
