Abstract

This IDC Survey evaluates the role of various elements of trust in the selection of IaaS vendors. IDC surveyed 1,011 individuals globally. Respondents need to be knowledgeable about their organization's use of public cloud and the decisions of which vendors to use and not use.

Respondents were asked to provide insights into their opinions of primary and secondary vendors and vendors considered but not selected. The goal is to illuminate how IaaS uses trust features to create outcomes, measured by vendor selection.

Key features of the research include:

  • The lack of emphasis on cost in selecting an IaaS provider
  • Data protection as a leading trust criteria
  • Vendor-specific insights into IBM Cloud (IBM Bluemix or SoftLayer), Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud Platform, and Rackspace Public Cloud
