"All-flash arrays became the biggest revenue segment in the external storage market for the first time in 2021, edging out hybrid flash arrays, and IDC expects them to widen that gap over time," said Eric Burgener, research vice president, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies Group, IDC. "The broader use of NVMe technology along with denser, more cost-effective flash media types is making these high-performance systems more affordable for a broader range of applications, and more and more enterprises have an all-flash mandate for primary storage workloads."
