Abstract

This IDC study describes the size and growth of IT professionals' employment by role and region for 2020–2025. It includes our forecast across 41 different job roles, an analysis of some of the key factors influencing IT professional employment, and survey results highlighting the impact of the lack of IT professional skills on organizations.

"The demand for IT skills remain very strong. For the foreseeable future, organizations will be challenged to find enough new skills to meet the demand. The solution will be 'build it yourself' for most enterprises and technology vendors. For enterprises, this means build skill development programs to move employees into high demand IT roles. For technology vendors, it means both build your own talent and build programs to help your clients build theirs." — Cushing Anderson, vice president, IT Education and Skills for Digital Transformation research
