Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight analyzes results of IDC's annual U.S. Enterprise Mobility Decision-Maker Survey: Devices, conducted in July of 2021 among 844 enterprise mobility decision makers in the United States.

In 2022, rugged mobility is a core enterprise technology that many U.S. businesses and their workers rely on every day to enable critical workflows in verticals such as warehousing, retail, transportation, public safety, and field service. As businesses look to enable larger segments of their frontline workforces with mobile devices, rugged devices are playing a pivotal role in many frontline deployments, as they are specifically designed to address enterprise-specific workflows as well as many of the unique challenges frontline workers face throughout their workday. As a result, most businesses that deploy rugged mobile devices are completely reliant on them, as they enable critical use cases under conditions and in environments that consumer-grade mobile devices simply cannot.

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights trends regarding rugged mobile device purchases, deployments, and reliance among United States–based businesses.
