Abstract

This IDC study quantifies the U.S. single-function printer and multifunction peripheral market opportunities in detail, analyzing issues, trends, and product advances in these markets. Unit shipments, value of shipments, and average selling value (ASV) information is presented. Data for 2017–2022 is actual, whereas data for 2023–2027 is projected.

"Supply chain challenges will continue to constrain printer and MFP shipments through at least mid-2023. After the supply chain recovers and pent-up demand is served, the printer and MFP market will again be demand driven by the end of 2023, after which it will return to a long-term declining trajectory. However, growth opportunities remain, particularly for vendors whose offerings meet the needs of the reimagined, smaller footprints of post-COVID-19 pandemic workplaces and cater to the requirements of remote and hybrid workers." — Geoffrey Wilbur, research manager, Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions at IDC
