Abstract

This IDC TechBrief provides guidance to organizations and makes the case for why and how they should partner with digital engineering services providers as they embark or continue rolling out strategic initiatives to transform their products and operations and make them resilient. This is achieved by connecting different stakeholders such as supply chain, sales, marketing, and other ecosystem participants that make a company successful and require new technologies such as IoT, AR/VR, analytics, cloud, and robotics that help accelerate product and operations innovation.

"Customers have limited budgets and are expected to increase ROI with the same static budgets every year. The rapidly evolving technology landscape also creates uncertainty regarding its value in the near term as the likelihood of it getting replaced by something better is highly likely. As customers embark on deploying new digital technologies to transform their operations, partnerships with engineering and OT providers can mitigate these and other uncertainties related to talent and technology at a much lower cost and help customers realize the true potential of their investments," said Mukesh Dialani, program director, Digital Engineering and Operational Technology Services at IDC.
