Abstract


This IDC Market Presentation is the result of a seven-countrywide study of consumers' entertainment habits pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic. This includes detailed quantification of their usage of video, social media, gaming, and audio; their participation in content creation; and their awareness of and interest in the metaverse.

"Consumers' entertainment behavior shows there is a mash-up going on in the entertainment space, with lots of opportunity, driven by the emerging behaviors of Gen Z and millennials," said David Myhrer, research VP, Consumer Strategies at IDC. "One in six consumers earn money with the content they post."

The survey was conducted among consumers from the United States, United Kingdom, China, Germany, Brazil, Japan, and Turkey.
