Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the results of an IDC survey. IDC conducted a survey of the U.S. physical security technology market, with an emphasis on video surveillance technology, from February to March of 2022. The survey consisted of 309 IT and facility security professionals located in the North America and EU markets. The survey disclosed that although the use of cloud storage for video surveillance is increasing, decision makers don't consider it appropriate for every application. An example is when video data is considered strategic, deserving of tighter control. Vendors that include cloud storage in their offerings need to be sensitive to their customers intended video applications.
