Abstract
This IDC Perspective provides guidance for increasing the sustainability, efficiency, and manageability of datacenter resources, including the critical facilities (power and cooling resources) and IT infrastructure (PDUs, racks, servers, storage, networking equipment, and cabling) in an increasingly distributed datacenter environment, where the physical equipment and workloads are in multiple locations. DCIM solution deployment is growing steadily as enterprises are tasked with delivering more IT services at a faster rate around the globe, often with limited budgets. Enterprises that recognize the importance of how sustainable the datacenter needs to be and how to better manage datacenter resources have turned to DCIM to save money on power and cooling costs and eliminate inefficiencies and waste.
