File- and Object-Based Storage Appliances Market Overview, 1H22
Abstract
This IDC Market Presentation analyzes the market for file- and object-based storage (FOBS) appliances in the first half of 2022. Demand remains strong for all-flash FOBS appliances, as enterprises increasingly require higher-performance storage for analytics and artificial intelligence applications. However, the market for hybrid flash FOBS arrays declined in 1H22 compared with 1H21. Revenue was nearly three times higher for scale-out file-based appliances than object-based appliances, but object-based appliance revenue grew at a higher rate, fueled by escalating volumes of unstructured data.
