Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the key differences in the short-term (1–2 years) and long-term (3-5 years) digital transformation (DX) goals of K–12 and higher education institutions. These goals were identified in IDC's Data and Analytics 2022 Industry IT and Communications Survey, conducted in July 2022.

"In early 2020, the goal of any technology investment in K–12 or higher education was to get educators and students online as quickly as possible and by any means necessary. Thinking long term was not an option," said Matthew Leger, research manager for IDC's Worldwide Education Digital Strategies. "Fast forward to 2022, education leaders have looked past the crisis era and have established strategic, short- and long-term DX goals that are driving their technology investments with an eye toward setting themselves up for a successful future."
