Inflation Concerns Show Lowest-Cost Concern for Telecom/Networking Services — Will This Keep Connectivity Spending Resilient in 2023?
Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight features data extracted from IDC’s Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 9, with 817 respondents across 18 countries and 21 distinct vertical markets. The fragile state of the global economy takes center stage for the enterprise as current market perceptions and future business realities may differ — for now. As inflation represents a known reality, IDC’s Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey shows that enterprises worldwide expect the largest cost impact on cloud-related infrastructure and software costs and the least impact on telecom and networking services.
Inflationary impact, while softening faster in North America than other regions, remains a consistent business issue worldwide, particularly tied to costs of IT. The cost impact on infrastructure was the most common concern for APAC businesses (44% of respondents), whereas employee-connected devices were the top concern for EMEA businesses (35% of respondents).
