Abstract

This IDC Survey highlights selected results from IDC's January 2023 Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 12. IDC asked 1,032 IT and LOB decision makers in North America, Asia/Pacific, Latin America, and Europe to indicate how concerns about inflation, recession, skills shortages, and other developments are affecting investment plans in major technology sectors and included additional questions specifically about digital infrastructure strategic priorities as these organizations enter 2023.

Key findings include:

  • Despite concerns about potential impacts from inflation and recessions, the majority of organizations expect to hold steady or increase 2023 spending on dedicated and public cloud infrastructure in comparison with 2022 spending levels.
  • The majority of organizations aim to reduce the "run" aspects of IT in order to free up funding for new innovation projects.
  • Regionally, Asia/Pacific has the most positive expectations for spending increases while EMEA is most conservative.

Customers will be proactively engaging with vendors and cloud providers in 2023 to build strategic relationships and optimize the cost to deploy and manage all types of digital infrastructure resources.
