Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the results of IDC's recent Return to the Office Survey. This survey asked respondents to rank the importance of each MFP function — copy, fax, print, and scan — in relation to the organization's document processing requirements for getting office work done. The survey was conducted with over 500 U.S. respondents in September 2022. Print was rated the top function by a wide margin. After that, the rankings offered a mild surprise as "copy" held the second-highest ranking by a very small margin over "scan." Fax was ranked a distant fourth position. The MFP function ranking was also consistent across all data segmentation categories (company size, vertical market, hybrid work status, etc.).
