This IDC study provides worldwide market share data for the operating system environments market for calendar year 2022.
"In 2022, the operating system environments market showed mixed results in terms of commercial revenue," said Greg Macatee, senior research analyst, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies Group at IDC. "Server-based operating systems performed quite well, while client-based operating systems faced notable headwinds during the year given significant slowdowns in PC markets. Embedded operating systems, which comprise the remainder of the market, found select niche growth opportunity in support of OT and real-time use cases."
