Quest for Australia's Digital Trailblazers begins; IDC Opens Nominations for the IDC DX Awards 2018

Sydney, May 29th, 2018 – IDC Australia gears up on its mission to identify this year’s top digital trailblazers in the country. IDC’s Digital Transformation Awards (IDC DXa), is looking for the best digital transformation initiatives that will join the 10 projects awarded last year. IDC DXa honors the achievements of organisations that have successfully planned and executed the digital transformation (DX) of one or multiple areas of their business through the application of digital and disruptive technologies within Australia.

"Since the dawn of the digital economy in 2017, this year is expected to be a tipping point for DX in Australia and digital initiatives will attain macroeconomic scale and impact; it will become the core of what industry leaders do and how they operate. Every growing enterprise must become "digital-native" in the way its executives and employees think, and how they act. 71% of Australian organisations have a concrete DX strategy in place to tackle disruptions and take advantage of the digital developments brought in by 3rd Platform technologies and innovation accelerators. This indicates a strong ambition and road map of Australian enterprises towards their contributions to the digital economy," says Sabhari Bala, Senior Research Manager, IDC Australia.

There are eight (8) award categories to vie in the IDC DX competition at the regional level and seven (7) at the country level.

This year’s award categories are Digital Disruptor of the Year; Digital Transformer of the Year; DX Leader (previously L3D Mastery); Omni-Experience Innovator; Talent Accelerator; Information Visionary, and Operating Model Master (previously Operational Transformation).

Furthermore, a Digital Trailblazer will be selected from one of the regional winners. This award category acknowledges the outstanding achievement among the regional winners across all categories for their excellence in the execution of their nominated project, experiences, data transformation, operations, and the workforce/workplace. This category is not open for nomination, and all regional winners would automatically qualify for this category.

IDC Australia will select the country winners from June to July 2018 and announce the winners on 24th October 2018.

Winners from all the country events will automatically be placed in the regional final. The regional panel of judges will comprise of IDC Worldwide analysts, industry thought leaders, and academia. They will judge based on submitted nominations, and judges’ scoring from the country event.

The search for the region’s top digital trailblazers intensifies. Join us as we await which organizations will be joining last year’s regional winners: Changi Airport Group (Singapore), MTR Corporation (Hong Kong), Chunyu Doctor (China), Postal Savings Bank of China, DBS Bank (Singapore), Taishin Bank (Taiwan), HDFC Bank (India), M Social Hotel (Singapore), and Jardine Restaurant Group (Hong Kong).

"DX demands rapid changes in business operations and company cultures to deliver the operational excellence essential for newer digital products and services. With most of the internal and external stakeholders (including investors) onboard, digital efforts are inevitable, and those Australian organisations slow to respond to this challenge will only see them competing with a shrinking minority over the next two to three years and will find it challenging to sustain their place in the economy," he added.
