Asia/Pacific* Enterprises Increasingly Utilizing AIOps to Optimize Infrastructure Operations, IDC Reports

SINGAPORE, September 2, 2021 – IDC predicts that by 2023, 75% of Global 2000 IT organizations will have adopted automated operations practices to transform their IT workforce. Artificial intelligence for IT operations (AIOps) refers to the application of AI/machine learning (ML) and big data and analytics in an intelligent and highly automated manner to address the challenges of modern infrastructure management. The IDC presentation Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations for a Resilient Future Enterprise: The State of Enterprise IT Operations in Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) features findings from IDC's 2021 Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) Software Survey and discusses the state of AIOps adoption in the region as well as key challenges faced by enterprises in leveraging their current operations management solutions towards realizing their organizational objectives.

"Faced with the prospect of increasingly diverse and complex enterprise infrastructure estates, IT teams are turning AIOps to help them efficiently manage infra operations by abstracting away the underlying complexity while simultaneously focusing on delivering business outcomes, instead of just tracking IT metrics,” said Pushkaraksh Shanbhag, Associate Research Director, IDC Asia/Pacific IT Services research.

IDC's findings, shown in Figure 1, reveal that adoption of AIOps capabilities generally improves as enterprise size increases, and medium-sized enterprises (250-1000 employees) are among the most aggressive users of advanced AIOps capabilities.

IDC believes that enterprises embarking on their AIOps journey can maximize the benefits they realize from their actions by investing in creating an AIOps journey map to their desired state, creating meaningful key performance indicators (KPIs) to track their progress, and partnering with the right AIOps solution and services vendors that can effectively orchestrate what currently is a very rich but highly fragmented ecosystem.
