AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, 15 August 2023 – IDC and Brightstar announced the 2023 CIO Awards winners during a gala dinner at Spark Arena in Auckland 15th August 2023. The awards recognise individuals, teams and community groups that have demonstrated exceptional leadership in showcasing the power of technology as an agent for transformation. Each has played an important role in continuing to promote Aotearoa's digital economy, removing roadblocks to digital equity, and cultivating the future of ICT talent.

Highlights include:
Angela Nash was named CIO of the year for her role as Chief Information & Technology Officer, New Zealand Rugby Commercial.
Vaughan Fergusson, founder of high growth NZ tech company Vend, co-founder of the Pam Fergusson Charitable Trust and the Institute of Awesome, was recognised with the Outstanding Contribution to Technology and Business in New Zealand Award.
