IDC Hosts Virtual CIO Summit for Mauritius's Most Influential ICT Leaders

Port Louis – International Data Corporation (IDC) today hosted more than 100 senior ICT leaders on its industry-leading virtual platform for the 6th annual installment of its IDC Mauritius CIO Summit, which ran under the theme 'The Race to Reinvent: Connecting Leaders to Empower Digital Transformation'.

The digital event offered an unrivaled immersive experience for participants as they seamlessly engaged in content-rich presentations and panel discussions, connected with exhibitors via video chat, and interacted with IDC analysts and key industry players in designated networking zones. Expert speakers explored the latest trends in cloud, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital leadership, intelligent automation, and the future of work, to name just a few.

IDC was honored to present the Honorable Deepak Balgobin, Mauritius's Minister of Information Technology, Communication, and Innovation, with an award recognizing his outstanding contribution to the country's IT community. The minister opened the day's proceedings by detailing the critical role that digital transformation has played in enabling the country to weather the COVID-19 storm.

"Artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotic process automation, and other emerging technologies have proven their value in terms of improving business efficiency, supporting health and safety processes, and enhancing the government's delivery of citizen services," he said. "The future lies in digitalization, an area we have been focused on and heavily invested in long before COVID-19, and this crisis has validated our vision and strategic direction, acting as a catalyst for further innovation."

IDC's global president, Crawford Del Prete, presented the event's keynote address as he unveiled IDC's new five-stage guide for helping organizations plan their recovery in the economic aftermath of COVID-19. In the session, titled 'The Five Stages to Enterprise Recovery: Charting Your Course to the Next Normal', Del Prete urged organizations in the country to focus on the imperatives of business continuity, cost optimization, business resiliency, and targeted investment as they strive to emerge as lean, dynamic, and innovation-fueled enterprises of the future.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has been an unexpected blow for businesses around the world," said Del Prete. "And while it has underscored the importance of digital transformation in the eyes of CEOs across all industries, it has also forced a complete rethink of their digital strategies. IDC's vision of the 'Future Enterprise' is an organization that is completely digitally transformed. Such an organization underpins business processes with technology, is fueled by innovation, and is both platform-enabled and ecosystem-centric."

The agenda also incorporated a series of individually themed Best Practice Sessions, Technology Focus Groups, and Panel Discussions that offered expert guidance on leveraging digital transformation to drive a return to growth, placing security at the heart of the business, preparing workspaces for the future of work, and becoming the model of a modern CIO. The delegates also received valuable end-user insights from respected industry peers such as:
