Overview

Following an explosion of content options over the last five years in the Middle East, customers in the region are increasingly finding themselves spoilt for choice. The Middle East market presents a fragmented landscape comprising a multitude of platforms and devices, and media providers are increasingly looking at how they can drive improved return on investment (ROI) from their acquisitions of premium content.

The region is digitally enabled, with connectivity growing at a rapid rate, and growing content consumption (whether via IP or DTH methods) and exclusive sport broadcasts are propelling the market. The Middle East has a tradition of high content consumption, and it is currently growing at faster rate than any other emerging market worldwide, presenting huge business opportunities for telecom operators, content aggregators, and solution providers alike.

In a millennial dense population, we see young people spending more time online than ever before. Ultra-broadband has become a transformative force that better connects our world in ways never before imaginable. Based on the ultra-broadband infrastructure, an exceptional multiscreen video experience is potentially the next foundational service after voice, text, and data. Video technology is developing at a fast pace and 4K delivery looks set to accelerate through 2020.

Telecom operators have launched multiscreen offerings and will aim to partner with media players like OSN, MBC, Rotana etc. to further develop their multi screen TV offerings. There has been significant growth in the adoption of online video by consumers so many telecom providers have also either launched video services or are planning to deliver video through online services, while some even have plans to set up their own content delivery networks that will enable them to accelerate the deployment of video over broadband. In this session, operators will discuss the evolution of TV and how will it evolve in the near future.
