Overview

Progressive organizations across the Middle East are leveraging digital technologies in a bid to transform their operations, create new revenue streams, and revolutionize their customer, citizen, and employee experiences. Indeed, a recent IDC survey of Middle East CIOs shows that nearly 60% of organizations in the region are currently undergoing digital transformation. The government and public sector are at the forefront of this movement, with digital transformation now a key focus of various national strategies like the Saudi NTP 2020.

Most local and federal government authorities in the region are pursuing aggressive roadmaps for the rollout of digital services, with a particular focus on the areas of education, healthcare, transportation, and utilities. In line with this, Smart City initiatives are moving from strategy to implementation as they become increasingly mainstream and provide a framework for bringing together various public services and stakeholders.

Progressive private-sector organizations in industries such as financial services, retail, and manufacturing are also getting on board, with disruptive technologies such as cloud, analytics, AI, IoT, and robotics fueling a new era of innovation. However, effective digital transformation is difficult to achieve, requiring strong leadership and seamless collaboration between IT and business teams.
