Overview

The cloud and datacenter market in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) continues to grow as digital transformation (DX) becomes the focus of most organizations in the region. Digital transformation requires more agile and manageable datacenters. Many organizations and service providers are building private cloud infrastructure and hosting public cloud environments to support their business transformation journey.

Organizations in the region are positively inclined toward multi-cloud environments, combining private and public cloud. A hybrid cloud computing model enables organizations to leverage both public and private cloud services to create a more flexible and cost-effective computing utility. In this model, organizations maintain their own critical data and applications on premises but utilize public cloud services for non-critical applications and processes. However the use of public cloud services is still in a nascent stage in the region.

Join IDC and key industry players as they discuss the dynamics of a hybrid computing future of IT where cloud, mobility and Software defined datacenters pave the way for enterprises to really use IT as a business enabler. Gain strategic insights and tactical tips to make your innovation a reality with the infrastructure of the future.

Converged Architectures – A New Platform of Choice

To move ahead on their digital transformation journeys, organizations are now looking at newer consolidated systems with centralized management capabilities. Many organizations are turning to converged systems that consolidate server, storage, and networking on a single platform. IDC expects to see greater adoption of converged systems as customers aim to build digitally native departments tasked with creating hybrid cloud solutions that support the DX journey.

10:40

Private Cloud Adoption

Private clouds are currently the most popular choice in the region, mostly due to traditional IT mindsets that value the on-premise hosting of assets. The lack of clear data-security regulations in the region is another reason organizations favor private cloud. Over the past few years the amount of infrastructure dedicated to private cloud buildouts has been steadily increasing.

Organizations are increasingly relying on emerging technologies such as mobility, social, AI, machine learning, and IoT to drive their ongoing digital transformation initiatives. The rapid adoption of these technologies has exposed them to a wide variety of complex security threats. As such, organizations are being forced to upgrade their security solutions to counter unknown threats and ensure they comply with global  data protection regulations. This session will explore various security challenges that organizations should address within their digital transformation roadmaps.

Effective Organizational Strategies for Managing Multi-Cloud Environments

Businesses are increasingly using more than one cloud solution provider to optimize and distribute their workloads across multi-cloud environments. Managing multiple cloud platforms can be a challenge if organizations do not have a clear strategy in place. This session will discuss the strategic aspects that organizations must consider if they are to ease the complexity of running multiple clouds.
