Multiplied Innovation Goes Mainstream: Thriving in the Digital Economy

Dubai, January 23, 2020

Overview

The IT industry today is being shaped by various trends, including the increasingly distributed and diversified nature of the cloud, the growing traction of microservices, the rapid advance of artificial intelligence capabilities, the evolution of platforms, the interconnection of code and data communities, and an increasingly powerful edge. These trends, which IDC defines as 'multiplied innovation', will move from emerging to mainstream over the next five years as organizations enter a 'race to invent' so they are ready for the onrushing digitalized economy.

With greater clarity about what the future enterprise will look like and what will be required to compete in redefined industries, organizations are rethinking their digital transformation strategies. As such, they are increasingly pivoting away from digital for the sake of innovation to digital for the sake of the business. There is now a focus on applying digital technologies to address the future of work, customer engagement, intelligence, operations, and leadership. Digital presents a multibillion-dollar tech opportunity for suppliers, but a new playbook is required that is focused on creating business value, scaling digital innovation, and embracing future of work.

End-user organizations in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META) are striving to accelerate their digital transformation journeys through the rapid adoption of 3rd Platform and Innovation Accelerator technologies such as cloud, artificial intelligence, IoT, robotic process automation, and advanced security. Challenging economic climates in some parts of the region have led to a greater focus on business outcomes from technology investments and significant shifts in the technology sourcing models and engagement approaches that are used.

Accordingly, ICT providers now need to review their value proposition and redesign their portfolios, go-to-market strategies, and partnership models in order to assume the role of digital transformation partners for their customers. They also need to understand shifts in market opportunities to prioritize their regional investment and make selective bets on technologies and country markets.

IDC Directions 2020 is the leading forum in the region for ICT providers, vendors, and service providers to obtain a deeper outlook into the market opportunities that exist for 2020. IDC's thought leaders will share forecasts and predictions for the region's technology markets and comment on the impact of global trends on the local environment. The event will provide a platform to interact with IDC's industry-leading global and local analysts and obtain their views and insights on 2020 and beyond. The event will also bring together senior executives from across the META region's ICT industry and provide an opportunity to exchange ideas as the industry prepares for what promises to be an eventful year ahead.
