Multiplied Innovation Goes Mainstream: Thriving in the Digital Economy

Riyadh, February 10, 2020

The ICT industry in Saudi Arabia is being shaped by a variety of emerging trends. These include the increasingly distributed and diversified nature of the cloud, the growing traction of microservices, the rapid advance of artificial intelligence and robotic process automation, the evolution of network infrastructure, and an increasingly powerful edge. These trends, which IDC defines as 'multiplied innovation', will move from emerging to mainstream over the next five years as organizations enter a 'race to invent' in preparation for the digitized economy.

With greater clarity about what the future enterprise will look like and what will be required to compete in redefined industries, organizations are rethinking their digital transformation strategies. They are pivoting away from digital for the sake of innovation to digital for the sake of the business, and there is an increasing focus on applying digital technologies to address the future of work, customer engagement, and intelligent operations. Digitization presents a huge tech opportunity for suppliers and end users alike, but a new playbook is required that is focused on creating business value and scaling digital innovation.

In line with the goals of Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program, public and private sector organizations in Saudi Arabia are striving to accelerate their digital transformation journeys through the rapid adoption of 3rd Platform and Innovation Accelerator technologies such as cloud, artificial intelligence, IoT, robotic process automation, and advanced security.

For the Kingdom's ICT market, the 2020 is expected to be dynamic, disruptive, and laced with innovation. Rapid change will present significant opportunities for technology providers across the industry's landscape, with multinational vendors, telecom operators, systems integrators, IT services companies, and distributors among those that stand to benefit. However, in order to effectively tap into these emerging opportunities, industry players will be required to make several smart bets and moves relating to products and services, go-to-market campaigns, and skills.

IDC Directions 2020 is Saudi Arabia's leading forum for ICT vendors and service providers to obtain a deeper outlook into the market opportunities that exist in the Kingdom for 2020. IDC thought leaders will share forecasts and predictions for the country’s technology markets and comment on the impact of global and regional trends on the local environment. The event will provide a platform to interact with IDC's industry-leading global and local analysts and obtain their views and insights on 2020 and beyond. The event will also bring together senior executives from across the ICT sector, providing a unique opportunity to exchange ideas as the industry prepares for what promises to be an eventful year ahead.
