IDC Cloud The Future of Digital Infrastructure Is Cloud!

Digital Event | October 25, 2021

Overview

We are now entering the next phase of cloud adoption, where enterprise applications are moving to the cloud and IT organizations are required to deal with multilayer applications in complex multicloud environments and with dynamic cloud-native applications on the same platforms.

Such complexity introduces a wide range of challenges, typically causing organizations to ask themselves questions such as: Which workloads should be placed in which clouds? What's the criteria for deciding workload placement? How can we best govern cloud usage and ensure regulatory compliance? How can we gain visibility over the performance of cloud services? How can we secure enterprise applications and cloud-native applications? And how can we enable cloud-based innovation from edge to core to cloud and drive the right level of connectivity?

To address these challenges, IT organizations should look not only to select the right cloud providers, cloud operating model, and target architecture, but also consider the skills requirements and cultural change that inevitably follow a change in technology platform.

The GCC edition of the IDC Cloud Roadshow 2021 will examine the very latest industry trends and explore ways in which organizations can move from islands of innovation to cloud-based operating models at scale and drive a cultural evolution that speeds up innovation and business transformation.

5Rs: Which Strategy is Right for Your Application Modernization & Migration to the Cloud

Stephane Estevez

EMEA Product Marketing Director, IT Markets, Splunk

So, you're up to speed on what the cloud is and why it’s the right move for your business. Now comes the "how" – and, spoiler alert, there's no "one-size-fits-all" approach. Many organizations are moving towards a multicloud or hybrid approach in the hope of enabling performance optimization, cost savings, and flexibility. Although achievable, this trend comes with various challenges in gaining visibility for monitoring, cost control, and securing an organization's infrastructure, data, and applications. So, it's important to implement the right migration strategy, in the right way, for your business. To help, this session will explore the five different strategies for cloud migration and application modernization — Rehost, Refactor, Revise, Rebuild, and Replace. We'll review the pros and cons of each and highlight the potential challenges if the time comes to combine them.

Key Trends and Priorities of Data Management

Harish Dunakhe

Research Director, Software and Cloud, IDC Middle East, Africa, & Turkey

To become a digital enterprise in today's hybrid world, organizations need to have an effective data strategy in place. With the adoption of cloud and emerging technologies such as mobility, social, IoT, wearables, and robotics, every organization is generating larger pools of data. These data pools are becoming gold mines for organizations as they can turn this data into actionable insights. Given the importance of these insights, organizations are increasingly investing in data management technologies for collecting, storing, managing, processing, identifying, and visualizing data. An effective and efficient data management strategy empowers organizations to make data-driven business decisions and transform themselves into 'digital enterprises'. This session will explore the latest trends and insights around data management in the Gulf region, while highlighting some key attributes and business benefits. It will also address the challenges that organizations across the region are facing in relation to their current data management strategies.

20x Faster Analytics Through Data Warehouse Augmentation

Fahad Khan

Senior Partner, Engineering, SingleStore

Big Data is exploding, with around 2.5 quintillion bytes of data generated every day. Unfortunately, traditional data platforms suffer from scalability, flexibility, and latency issues and are not equipped to support artificial intelligence/machine learning workloads due to structural and performance limitations. Companies must consequently ditch their legacy architectures to meet modern enterprise requirements. Accordingly, many firms are augmenting their data warehouses and deploying data platforms using a unified database for data intensive applications. This move has helped businesses dramatically improve their performance and accelerate the speed of analytics. The session will look at a few case studies to demonstrate how some enterprises have improved performance through data warehouse augmentation
