IDCMiddle East, Türkiye & AfricaDirectionsNavigating Disruption in the Age of Digital Business
In-Person Event | Dubai | February 1, 2023
Overview
The year ahead is likely to be characterized by recessionary pressures in key global economies, increasing borrowing costs, unpredictable supply chains, oil price uncertainty, and volatile demand. At the same time, numerous diversification and industrialization initiatives and mega projects will be entering key implementation stages in 2023. For many organizations, the digital and tech investments they made during the pandemic to build resilience could be put to test in 2023 across key business dimensions such as customer experience, operations, and financial management, among others. Further digitalization in key areas and a more rapid shift to a "digital business" could separate the thrivers from the survivors.
Against the backdrop of a global slowdown, tech vendors and providers will need to review their market strategies for the region to identify and tap into opportunities in specific countries and industries that emerge from these disruptive forces. They will also need to prioritize investments in specific areas of their portfolios, go-to-market plans, ecosystem partnerships, and skill sets.

Beyond Uncertainty: Preparing for a New Tech World Order
Steven Frantzen
Senior Vice President & Regional Managing Director (EMEA), IDC
As tech leaders address global economic uncertainty, the tactics they employ will differ from those used in past economic downturns. In a digital-first economy, where an enterprise's competitiveness is tied to its digital business model, leaders will avoid wholesale cutbacks in tech. Furthermore, in the first potential 'as-a-service' recession, where cloud represents 40% of enterprise IT spend, unwinding these investments will be complex. Nevertheless, new tactics will be employed as tech leaders seek to recognize maximum business value from their tech investments. This session will summarize IDC's latest research and IT spending forecasts, while examining how leaders will use technology to navigate disruption and prepare for a new tech world order.

Connected Technology Ecosystems, Partner Transformation Strategies, and Vendor-Partner Engagement in the Digital-First Era: Trends and Opportunities in the META Region
Linear channel-based partnership models are in rapid decline across the technology industry. New "ecosystem" models and relationships between tech providers have emerged. The future will be characterized by connected tech ecosystems, where relationships between interdependent entities – including OEMs/ISVs, hyperscalers, telcos, service providers, and end customers – are purposefully established to create business value. This session will describe these connected tech ecosystems and discuss what technology firms and partner organizations need to do to transform themselves into DX partners and become "valued participants" of connected ecosystems. It will also explore what OEMs/vendors need to focus on in their partner engagements to create greater value.
