Abstract
This IDC Market Perspective provides a review of SAP's Sales Cloud announcements at the company's CX Live event held in Orlando, Florida, May 7–8, 2019. SAP has advanced its Sales Cloud with the acquisition of CallidusCloud and is rapidly delivering better configuration and integration capabilities to lower the customization work needed. However, there is a complex set of capabilities needed to automate the whole sales cycle and supporting processes, which will require several years of additional effort to pull together as a seamlessly automated environment for sales reps.
"SAP's vision of an integrated set of cloud applications for sales is compelling, said Gerry Murray, research director, Marketing and Sales Technology at IDC. This year, SAP took big strides toward making that vision a reality. With the acquisitions of CallidusCloud and Qualtrics; the advancement of identity and consent management in its data cloud; and extensive work on integration with CPQ, contracting, and back-end solutions; SAP can effectively deliver on both best-of-breed and platform strategies for large enterprises."
