Abstract

This IDC PeerScape explores the enterprise cybersecurity budgeting process and the approaches taken by four CIOs across the airport, construction, hospitality, and commercial real estate industries. As this study shows, CIOs are increasingly focused on identifying and managing risk — as it applies to their individual enterprises as well as to their industries — and from there, developing security budgets to defend against those threats that are most likely to hit them.

"These CIOs show that developing an effective cybersecurity budget isn't a once-and-done annual event," observes Julia King, an adjunct analyst at IDC. "Rolling audits and continuous information gathering, plus regular collaboration with peers, are all critical parts of the equation."
