Abstract

This IDC Perspective outlines the benefits and challenges that enterprises face when implementing a smart assistant solution and the key factors to consider before deploying smart assistant devices in the workplace.

"Smart assistants are gaining in popularity among consumers and are quickly becoming the central interface through which consumers interact with their connected devices and access digital content and services," says Adam Wright, senior research analyst for IDC's Smart Home program. "As individuals become accustomed to leveraging smart assistants to be more efficient and effective in their personal lives, they will also come to expect this kind of functionality in the workplace," adds David Schubmehl, research director for IDC's Cognitive/Artificial Intelligence Systems program. "Enterprises looking to modernize technology interfaces and offer increased capabilities for their employees should consider incorporating this technology."
