Abstract

This IDC study considers the collective technologies in the agile application life-cycle, quality, and portfolio management market areas across the collaborative business, IT, and DevOps pipeline, including automated software quality (ASQ); software change, configuration, and process management (SCCPM); and project and portfolio management (PPM). Coordination across these areas is key for successful collaboration from business stakeholders through to development and operational teams.

"Given the business imperative for collaboration with IT and operations to execute on digital innovation and the resulting demand for agile, DevOps-managed development and deployment practices and resource prioritization, executive visibility into engaging, urgently needed, and relevant technologies to support this operational paradigm is key," says Melinda Ballou, research director, Agile ALM, Quality and Portfolio Strategies at IDC. "This IDC TechScape offers IDC's perspective on the relative maturity of the agile ALM, SCCPM, and PPM technologies that are heavily leveraged by organizations moving to modern approaches to work, development, and deployment and strategies for adoption."
