Abstract

This IDC Perspective describes a systematic approach for assessing the potential risks associated with 5G connectivity. It provides a threat modeling template to assist security professionals in identifying newly introduced risks and their associated mitigation solutions to bring 5G security concerns in line with the organization's risk tolerance. Organizations can better prepare for emerging 5G security risks by conducting a threat modeling exercise to determine the impact new technologies may have on an organization's security posture.

"New technologies like 5G may provide powerful benefits to enterprises, but they also influence workflow and processes resulting in risk. Threat modeling is an essential exercise supporting a thorough risk assessment process that should benefit organizations," said Robyn Westervelt, research director, Security and Trust.
