Abstract
This IDC Perspective is a guide to the future of enterprise intelligence and is designed to help CIOs understand what it is, why it matters, what roles they must play, and essential actions they must take to help drive future intelligence for their businesses. This document is intended to provide a foundation for CIOs in creating their future of intelligence strategies and plans. Though most CIOs have made significant strides in implementing business intelligence in their enterprises, the bar keeps rising.
"Using only traditional reports and dashboards, businesses cannot cope with the increasing pace and volatility of business markets, the spiraling number of emerging digital technologies, or black swans resulting from geopolitical unrest, natural disasters, and pandemics. Intelligence needs to be embedded in every aspect of business operations and interactions with customers, partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders," says Marc Strohlein, adjunct research advisor with IDC's IT Executive Programs (IEP). "The goal of future of intelligence is not simply to create intelligent enterprises but to build organizations that use intelligence to excel at business operations and provide superior customer experiences, products, and services."
