Abstract

This IDC Perspective reviews opportunities and challenges faced by enterprises that are building and developing machine learning models in the public cloud. It also provides examples of companies doing machine learning projects in the public cloud today and offers guidance and best practices for organizations to consider when developing their own machine learning projects.

"AI and machine learning in the public cloud have seen tremendous growth over the past several years," said Dave Schubmehl, research director, AI Software Platforms, Content Analytics and Search. "This growth is being driven by the flexibility, agility, and capabilities that are now widely available through public cloud resources. Organizations are making use of open source and custom tools in the cloud that enhance and accelerate the development of machine learning models and applications."
